Lava Mulch is the ideal multi-talent for aquascaping and planted aquariums.
It is suitable as a base layer under soil, for building hills and terraces, as decorative scatter gravel, and – in a mesh bag – as a biological filter medium.

The open structure offers an enormous surface area for beneficial bacteria and promotes water flow through the substrate.

The volcanic rock is generally pH and KH neutral, plant and shrimp-friendly, and ideal for Iwagumi, Ryuboku, or Mixed layouts.

• Substrate: Spread 2–5 cm of lava mulch, optionally cover with fleece, then add soil/substrate.
• Hills/Terraces: Use mulch as filler material, then add 3–5 cm of soil on top.
• Filter Medium: Place in a mesh bag in the aquarium or in an external/mat filter. Can also be added loosely to the filter.
• Rinse thoroughly before use (stone dust). Initial cloudiness is normal.
• Check natural edges, sort out coarse pieces for very sensitive bottom-dwelling fish.
